“Almost done painting my success, just needs the success part.”

Josephus “Cpus” Bartin from Cebu City, Philippines

Teacher * Artist and anything in Between.

Born on December 21, 1980, Josephus is the eldest of three,  due to the nature of his Parent’s work, their family is frequently moving as he was growing up, from the northern towns of Cebu to the heart of the City, this diversity of his childhood experiences will later influence his Art and his life as a whole.

Even though his Parents had other plans, Josephus insisted to take up Fine Arts major in Painting in the University of the Philippines Cebu College, where he received his Bachelor’s degree.

During his College days, Josephus was very active in the Community Service and volunteer works including teaching Art workshops to the Provinces of Leyte every summer from his First year to Fourth Year under “UP Pahinungod Program”, also he became Grand Chancellor of Alpha Phi Omega International Service Organization, one of the leading service organizations in the Philippines and the United States of America.

His thesis and first One Man Show, entitled “Pirmero” (meaning:First) circa 2002, was about self emancipation, held at Catarman Lilo-an Elementary School, Cebu Philippines, where his Grandmother and Mother was teaching English and Kindergarten for more than 10 years respectively.

After College, he taught Arts, PE and Scouting at the Maria Montessori Children’s School (now Maria Montessori International school), Lahug and Talamban Campuses, Cebu Philippines, He stayed there for 2 years and later moved to the corporate world of Business Process Outsourcing for better opportunities.

In 2005, Josephus went thru something in life, lost a brother in a accident and found Poetry as his refuge.

He was first introduced to social media like wordpress.com among others, and started writing drafts under his Pen Name: “Mindspen” . https://mindspen.wordpress.com/

later independently published them into 2 poetry books entitled: “Elusive Bliss” and “Of Mortality, Love and Sarcasm” which were meant to be Holiday gifts for friends and family who helped during those times, it was edited by his friend and fellow Artist, Maximo Perez.

As Poetry is meant to be sung…

Josephus moved to the beautiful City of Davao, Philippines, In 2009 where he formed a Band that plays original music and named themselves WiHO (or Wish I had One), An idea he thought would keep them hungry and motivated, he played guitars and did most of the writings.

In 2013, Josephus took a leap of faith and moved to To Bangkok, Thailand and started to find himself a name in the middle of the diversity and the international scene.

I guess this is the part where we  say, the rest is history…
