Josephus Bartin is a drifter, free spirited human being, trying to live life on his own terms from a relatively conservative environment.
He grew up wondering…how the heck tourist and backpackers make a living.
Finished with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, major in Painting in the University of the Philippines, Cebu, Josephus never sought painting any merit at all.
Until lately.
During college, he volunteered for 3 consecutive years, every summer to teach Arts to kids in different places at the neighboring island of Leyte.
These experiences became the start of the realization of his passion for teaching and traveling (maybe mostly traveling.)
But at that point it wasn’t enough to sustain.
He bumped into the Business Process Outsourcing Industry that started to bloom during those years, stayed there for almost 8 years, 5 centers, serving big companies from the US, such as, Accenture, JP Morgan Chase and AT&T to name a few, from Technical to Customer Service to Sales, serving 7 of those years, in the management level, he has been Product Trainer, Operations Supervisor and People Development Coach.
But his greatest accomplishment in that field was the relationships he built with his peers. His natural charisma has always encouraged people to become who they really want, even and specially beyond their current industry.
By end of his career in the BPO, he realized that inspiring people makes a more fulfilling path; it was then that he started to use his signature “Keep Inspiring”
So in 2013, Josephus decided to leave his comfort zone to spend all his savings in Thailand.
Uncertain what to expect, he realize quickly that his best-acquired skills from his previous experiences will be almost useless in the non – English speaking country.
Still he forged forward and for 2 years…
He has been a Math Teacher, International Correspondent for Furniture Design Company and eventually an Art Teacher; he also coached football and became very active in the City’s art scene on the side, joining and attending every single event he can afford to join, one of which, was his first one man show in Bangkok, that showcased his Pet Series, it sold out 90% of his works before the show.
He thought his friends just bought it out of pity, but the gallery owner contradicted this, saying, “Nobody spends for Art because that.”
So since July of 2015, Josephus have been officially unemployed.
and have taken at least 15 international trips, in 8 different countries, conducted at least 20 workshops and talks, and painted at least a hundred portraits (not all was paid or sold.)
Today…
Having no permanent Job, address and savings still, I assume, he has never been so happy being a full time Struggling Artist.
Keep Inspiring Josephus Bartin!
